I drink a lot of tea and wanted something simple to keep a few tea bags in my bag without them getting crushed, bent, or scattered in my luggage. So I made this little travel container.
It holds individually wrapped tea bags and uses a separate sliding lid. The lid is captured by the grooves in the sides, so there aren't any hinges, magnets, or extra hardware to deal with. I wanted it to be small enough to put in a travel bag while still sturdy enough to protect what's inside.
Printing:
The container prints upright, and the lid prints flat, as shown in the included 3MF. No supports are needed.
I printed mine in PLA on a Prusa MINI with a 0.4 mm nozzle and 0.20 mm layer height.
I have also included a 3MF with my suggested seam placement. On the tall container, keeping the seam away from the sliding surfaces helps the lid move more smoothly and also gives the outside a cleaner appearance.
Files included:
I've included STL and STEP files in addition to the 3MF, so you can slice it yourself or modify the design if you'd like.
The lid is intentionally a moving/sliding fit rather than a snap fit. Printer and filament tolerances vary, so if your printer tends to make mating parts tight, keep that in mind when slicing.
If you print one, I'd love to see your make. I'm open to tea suggestions, too! I carry Twinings because hotels tend to have Bigelow, and I don't care for it.
