An open-top storage tray (7.5 × 4.5 × 2 in / 190 × 114 × 51 mm) that stacks into itself. Instead of a lid or a rim lip, each tray's foot drops onto the chamfered rim of the tray below on a 45° wedge — so a stack self-centers, sits on line contact (nothing to wear out or crack), and nests about 3 mm for a tight column. No supports, no hardware, prints flat on the bed.
Comes in four exterior textures that all share one stacking footprint — plain, flutes, bands, and diamond — so you can mix colors and textures in a single stack (see the photo). Each texture is a shallow cut into the wall (0.6 mm or less), so it is purely cosmetic and fully interchangeable.
Why it's nice:
- Self-centering wedge stack — no lids, no clips, no wobble
- Mix any textures and colors in one column; they all nest together
- Prints flat, no supports
- Fully parametric OpenSCAD source included — resize it, add dividers, pick a texture
Files:
- FlossyStackableTrays.3mf — one Bambu Studio project with 4 plates (plain / flutes / bands / diamond), sliced and print-ready
- Individual STLs: tray (plain), tray-flutes, tray-bands, tray-diamond
- tray.scad — parametric OpenSCAD source
Print settings (the profile in the .3mf, print-tested):
- PLA (PETG works too), 0.2 mm layers
- 2 walls, 15% infill (the 2.4 mm-thick wall geometry gives a sturdy result)
- No supports, flat on the bed as oriented
- 0.4 mm nozzle — designed and printed on a Bambu Lab P1S
Parametric knobs (top of tray.scad): box_l / box_w / box_h, wall, floor_t, corner_r, foot_h / foot_clear, rim_ch, div_count (0 = open tray; N = N+1 compartments), texture. Trays stack together as long as the length × width footprint matches — same footprint stacks regardless of height.
