Crafted Elegance: Leather & 3D Printed wireless charging ready Case for iPhone 12 Pro

Elevate your everyday carry with a case that bridges the gap between high-tech manufacturing and traditional craftsmanship. This project combines a precise 3D-printed inner skeleton with genuine leather, finished with laser cutting and hand-stitching for a truly premium feel.

🌟 Features

  • Hybrid Design: A rigid 3D-printed core provides structural integrity and button protection, while the natural leather wrap offers a luxurious in-hand feel and aging patina.

  • Precision Fit: Engineered specifically for the iPhone 12 Pro, featuring exact cutouts for the camera bump, lightning port, speakers, and mute switch.

  • Customizable Style: Mix and match different filament colors and leather types (tan, black, distressed) to match your personal aesthetic.

🛠 Manufacturing Process

Bringing this case to life requires a multi-step workflow combining digital fabrication and handcrafting:

  1. 3D Printing:

    • Print the core frame using desired filament (I preffere Wooden pla, just because of touch experience, also you can craft it's like a real wood, color/covering/finishing).

    • Designed with tight tolerances to securely snap onto the phone while accommodating the added thickness of the leather wrap.

  2. Laser Cutting (Leather):

    • Use the provided vector template to laser-cut your leather piece to exact dimensions, including pre-cut stitch holes and camera cutouts. (Alternatively, hand-cut using a template and a rotary cutter).

  3. Assembly & Stitching:

    • Adhere the leather securely to the backplate of the printed frame using high-strength contact cement.

    • Finish with a traditional saddle stitch using waxed thread for maximum durability and a classic artisan look.

⚙ Print Settings & Recommendations

  • Printer Type: FDM (in my case Bambulab P1S)

  • Filament:

    • Core: Wooden PLA for easy installation and shock absorption, or other you like for a rigid snap-fit style.

  • Layer Height: 0.12 mm (for smoother edges)

  • Infill: 20% - 30% (Grid or Gyroid for optimal strength)

  • Supports: Minimal supports needed depending on your print orientation (recommended printing face-down). Only biggest support its leather place.

📦 Files Included

  • iPhone_12_Pro_Case_Core.step – The main 3D printable frame. (don't recommend STL - no smooth there)

  • Leather_Template.dxf / .svg – Vector files for laser cutting or manual tracing.
