There are two separate models here:
XY shrinkage calibration, 100mm x 100mm, 8mm thick to allow caliper access to vertical wall without interference from top & bottom layers.
XYZ model, as above but with Z-axis features. Measure from the top of each tower to the top surface of the model base. Do not measure to build plate or other surface.
These models allow you to square up the calipers and use the full length of the arms (for standard 150mm digital calipers, at least). The top & bottom surfaces of the model often affect the reading if they are part of the measurement, so the model is thick enough to avoid that as well.
