OSRS Capes

3D models based on the cape icons from OSRS. The models were created by extracting the pixel information from the images using a python script i wrote. the json structure includes a 2d array of the hex codes of the pixels in the image and a height map. the height map is sorted in order of perceived brightness of the pixel color. The pixel heights start at 3mm and add another 0.5mm for each color each additional color resulting in cubes of 3x3x<pixel height>.

for these i had to do an additional quantization step to reduce the number of colors in the image. without it the models looked comically tall. this step smooths out the color transitions and reduces the number of distinct colors by combining "like" colors. It helps simplify the models while preserving most of the accuracy of the original. each model caps at 12 distinct color heights.
