This stand is mainly intended for top-down shots, like photographing documents, sheet music, manuscripts or book pages. You can use smartphone apps to take pictures without touching the shutter button—some even allow voice-activated capture, and some can take pictures at a certain time interval so that you have time to change what is to be photographed.

I’ve been using it to take pictures of the printed components.

The interlockings can be a bit tight but they will fit

Also note that there will be supports in the nut holes that you have to pry out.

The joints, Joint0 and Joint1, are available as alternatives. They are offset by 7.5 degrees (Joint0b and Joint1b under STL files)

22 aug, added cover for bolts/screws with round 12 mm head

22 aug. update regarding the length of the scews, see below (following the assembly guide)

Hardware that you will need:

  • 4 bolts and nuts M6, at least 40 mm long

  • or bolts with round head 12mm diameter at least 40 mm long

  • Superglue

This stand is not a quick-adjustment stand. Each connector has interlocking tabs labeled either '0' or '1.' Connect a '0' to a '1'

The mount includes a screw clamp or a lamp foot. The lamp foot must be securely screwed into a surface; otherwise, it will be unstable and may tip.

The brackets are printed in three pieces (for technical reasons) and require assembly with glue. The parts fit tightly—apply strong pressure or use pliers if needed. (I’ve already glued the plug and threaded part here.)

The smartphone mount is secured by an underside screw, and the grip width can be adjusted to fit your device. For better grip, you may want to attach rubber pads—otherwise, it might be too slick. The phone holder attaches by screwing onto the upper bracket.

You can adjust the stand’s angles however you like. Just experiment and be patient! :-)

Hope you enjoy it!

UPDATE!

If you choose slightly longer screws, it will be easier to loosen the screws and fold the stand. The screws on the folded stands are 50 mm long. So 45-50 mm is better!
