A Splitzer (or "Lomo’Instant Splitzer") is a term used by The Lomographic Society to describe a filter placed over a camera lens that covers a portion of the lens.

Here is a DIY version for various filter thread sizes. I own 40.5mm, 46mm, and 58mm lenses, so the provided STLs are for those thread sizes. For other sizes, I’ve included a parameterizable FreeCAD source file. Refer to this repository for additional thread sizes.

Important Notes

Using Splitzer with Digital Cameras

The original Splitzer is typically used with film cameras, where artists can achieve double exposures by simply not advancing the film (unless the process is automatic). In contrast, digital cameras usually do not support multiple exposures. Some have specific apps for multiple exposure shots (like Sony’s discontinued PlayMemories Multiple Exposure Camera App), while on others, this feature may not be available. Be sure to do your own research.

Lens safety

For the Splitzer to work best and prevent overexposure along the split line, it should be placed as close to the lens as possible. That’s why this model includes a shading feature on the Splitzer part itself. Some lenses, like fisheyes, protrude significantly. Be cautious not to scratch your lens, and ensure that you adapt the model for your particular setup.
