About
The Kraken - Adaptive Spool Holder is an alternative mounting of the spools to the standard Kraken Spool Rings. It automatically centers spools with a center hole diameter between ~50 and 60 mm so basically 98% of all common spools. There are larger versions available of the springs as well if your spools have an even larger center hole diameter. The following sizes are available:
Standard (50-60 mm)
Large (60-70 mm)
XL (70-80 mm)
XXL (80-90 mm)
It is compatible with Kraken for both the original AMS and for the AMS 2 PRO as it uses the same spool holder.
It uses a spring mechanism to automatically center the spools. Having the spool fully centered is important for trouble free operation of Kraken.
It uses the same large spool gear as the normal Kraken spool holder and assembles exactly the same so if you have already printed those you can of course skip them but I'm including them in this upload. I'm also including the spool tightening tool that can be helpful when you tighten the spools are the top edge is so thin to maximize spool widths.
If you've already printed your normal Kraken stock holder you just need to print the adaptive spool holder bottom and top springs as well as the adaptive spool top. You only need four spool tops in total for a Kraken build as the springs are removable/swappable.
Print Profiles
You can use one of the Print Profiles to print a set, they include the top holders on one plate. These are tried and tested and use the recommended print settings. The print profiles use my PETG settings, change the filament to whatever you use.
How to use
Start by screwing the top spring to the top. For most spools, the standard spring will be suitable.

Next, screw the matching bottom spring to the Kraken spool gear:

Place the spool over the spool holder, you may need to press it a little depending on your spool's inner diameter as the spring will try to force it out and up. Take notice of the filament direction, it should be clock-wise as the gear is on the right.

Screw down the top with the top spring fully. It should now have the spool centered on both sides.

Check to confirm the spool is properly centered.

Print Settings
I recommend printing the springs in a filament that has strong layer adhesion such as PETG or PA. I've used PETG in mine for testing and they hold up great.
Print the parts in the direction I have set them. No supports are needed. I recommend using 3 walls and 25% gyroid infill.
The springs are quite thin in order for them to be "springy" so do expect to reprint them at times.
Print the parts in the direction I have set them. Supports should not be used.
