Modular Geared fidget factory Kit

A fully modular gear system designed for the Geared Spinner contest. This kit lets you build a classic tri-spinner, a square, a rhombus, a straight gear chain, a continuous looping track (6 or more segments), or whatever else your imagination suggests.

I highly encourage you to design your own extensions, custom connectors, and remix the project!

Included Parts:

  1. Gear: The core moving component.

  2. Spacer: For height adjustments.

  3. 2-Hole Connector: For basic straight connections.

  4. 3-Hole Connector: For longer straight chains.

  5. 3-Arm Connector: The perfect base for a classic tri-spinner.

  6. Screw (External Thread): Standard threaded bolt.

  7. Free-Spinning Cap (Internal Thread): Smooth cap that allows the gear to rotate loosely around it.

  8. Locked Cap (Internal Thread): Marked with a padlock icon. Features tabs that lock into the gear, keeping it completely stationary.

  9. Screwdriver (Optional): A small custom tool for easier assembly.

Print Settings:

  • Supports: None.

  • Layer height: Any (the examples were printed at 0.2mm).

  • Nozzle: 0.4mm.

  • Material: I used PETG-CF, but any standard filament works well.

  • Tolerances & Scaling: At 100% scale, tolerances are very large. Everything spins smoothly right off the build plate without post-processing. You can scale the parts down to 60%, but this is the absolute limit for a 0.4mm nozzle and requires excellent printer calibration.

Assembly: No tools are strictly needed. The generous tolerances allow you to easily screw everything together using just your fingers. However, you can print the included optional screwdriver for even easier and faster assembly.
