An original interpretation of Polyphemus, the Cyclops from Homer’s Odyssey, created as a detailed 3D printable statue.
The model is provided as an STL that can be scaled to suit your printer, preferred display size, and printing setup. You can print it at a smaller scale or use it as the starting point for a much larger multi-part project.
The sculpt was developed with FDM printing in mind, favoring robust forms, connected geometry, grounded elements, thicker details, and relatively shallow surface textures rather than delicate floating features.
Because this is a complex artistic model, some areas may still require supports depending on the chosen scale, orientation, and print settings.
Our 400 mm print
For our own build, we scaled the model to approximately:
400 mm tall
220 mm maximum width
200 mm maximum depth
Since this exceeded the available build volume, we divided the model into multiple sections in PrusaSlicer and added alignment pins and matching holes to simplify final assembly.
Our version was printed in black PETG using:
0.4 mm nozzle
0.2 mm layer height
PrusaSlicer STRUCTURAL profile
Organic supports with manually painted support areas
At this scale, the complete project was distributed across eight print jobs and required approximately:
1.8 kg of filament
87.5 hours of printing
These figures are provided only as a reference for our 400 mm version. Print time, material usage, support requirements, and segmentation will vary significantly depending on the scale and settings you choose.
After printing, our sections were assembled using printed alignment pins and cyanoacrylate adhesive. We left the finished model without sanding, filling, painting, or other cosmetic post-processing.
Feel free to scale, prepare, and adapt the STL to suit your own project.
