Introduction
A waste bin to catch the considerable purge waste that the printer produces. There is a bracket that uses the existing 3 screws around the waste chute on the back of the printer for fastening. The bin is connected to the bracket using 4 magnets allowing it to be easily removed and emptied.
Bill of Materials
Printed Parts
8 20mm x 10mm x 5mm neodymium magnets
Printing
I printed the parts out of ASA. Not sure how hot the back of the printer gets, so went the cautious approach. I printed the bracket flat, but the bin standing on its floor, so a very tall printer (but fits in a 250mm build volume). There are 20mm bridges over the horizontal magnet cavities which my printer handled fine without supports.
Assembly
I used 5 minute epoxy to fasten the magnets into their cavities. I have found that superglue does not last long term for this application. To fasten the bracket to the back of the printer, take out the 3 self-tapping screws that surround the waste chute. Place the bracket around the chute and reattach the screws. The chute is a little loose when you remove the screws, but I had no problem getting the screws back in to re-fasten it with the bracket.
