Insulin pens typically stop working when there's ~16 units left, so I always use a syringe to pull out the remaining insulin. But I also use two kinds of insulin and if both pens run out at the same time there's no way to tell the two syringes apart. So I made this simple label. You can add text if your printer can handle it (5.5 Arial used here), but others will work), use a sharpie, or you could just color code them.
These were printed in PLA and work fine, but PET-G would probably snap better.
Printed face down on the bed for stability, but layer orientation would be stronger if printed on end.
I used a 0.25mm nozzle to print the text. 0.6mm definitely won't work. A 0.4mm one might work, but I don't have one to test. If you print text with a 0.4mm nozzle please add pictures and comments.
This model fits a 0.3mL syringe, but you could scale up to fit bigger ones. You could also scale axially if you need more space for text.
