I'm gonna be completely honest. printing this was kind of a nightmare for me. the ender 3 just cant handle the height of the blade. (i may have made it a little longer then intended but it looks awesome) i printed on a .3 draft profile as well leaving the surface pretty rough. the concept in theory should work but i wasn't able to print fully successfully. printing without supports let the blades of the fidget move too much causing the blade to break later in the print and look incredibly rough. i failed 4-5 prints. using paint on supports on the outer side of the blades made the blades stay more stable for the printing and i got the farthest with that method but then ran out of filament and then height. so... i genuinely believe that the model should be good and okay to print but i think it needs a better printer that's properly calibrated. i strongly recommend you use some negative -xy compensations something like .2 - .6 to accommodate for any anomalies, swelling or curling that happen during printing the spiral blade. something akin to a print in place profile. i attempted cleaning up the spiral in meshmixer only for it to repeatedly crash. creating this in tinkercad was a major challenge as well i continually crashed tinkercad too. i attempted to shorten the blade but tinkercad is fully frozen on that build. Print time was pretty ridiculous also. Like 30 hours for 1 whole sword. been working on this the last 2 weeks but the fidget contest is almost over ive run out of time, filament and patience. hahaha
anyway. i hope someone can make some use out of these files. any feedback is welcome. would love to see some makes and comments. thank you for checking it out.
i would not consider this a "SAFE" toy so dont come after me parents. be aware when printing there are dangers involved with lobbing fidgets at each other. this is likely an outdoor toy as to spare the life of any inside object you want to keep safe from flying toys. also please make sure you are gluing the handle, peg and blade together to prevent them from flying apart wile playing with them.
