How Battle Stack Works
Battle Stack is a modular tabletop terrain system designed to take your game beyond a flat battle map. Built around a standard 1-inch grid, Battle Stack lets you create traditional horizontal maps while giving you the ability to build upward and create fully playable multi-level battlefields.
Base Plates — Your Foundation
Battle Stack starts with modular grid plates available in multiple sizes. Every plate uses the same 1-inch grid, allowing different sizes and configurations to be combined into virtually any layout.
Each grid square also includes a 4 mm connection hole, creating the foundation for the system's vertical building capability.
Columns — Build Upward
The 4 mm holes allow Battle Stack columns to connect directly to the grid plates. Columns are available in 1-inch, 2-inch, and 3-inch heights, allowing you to create different elevations throughout your battlefield.
Place columns beneath a plate, add another plate on top, and you've created a new playable level.
Mix and match column heights to build:
Raised platforms
Multi-level rooms
Towers
Balconies
Bridges
Catwalks
Elevated battlefields
Multi-story structures
Because the connection points are built into every grid square, elevated sections don't have to be limited to the center of a plate. You decide where the supports go and how your battlefield takes shape.
Walls — Lock Into the Grid
Every 1-inch grid square features dovetail grooves along its edges. These grooves create a universal attachment point for the Battle Stack wall system.
Walls simply slide into the dovetail channels and stay aligned with the grid.
The same interface can be used for different accessories, including:
Walls
Railings
Fences
Barriers
Door sections
Other modular terrain
This allows your walls and accessories to move with your battlefield instead of being permanently attached to a particular plate.
Edge Plates — Build Around the Perimeter
Battle Stack also uses specialized edge plates that connect through the same 4 mm system. These pieces allow walls to be mounted along the outside edges of a platform, giving you the ability to enclose raised sections and create complete rooms or structures at any elevation.
Stack. Connect. Build.
The real power of Battle Stack comes from combining all of these systems.
Base plates create the grid.
4 mm connections create the vertical structure.
Columns create elevation.
Dovetail grooves create walls and accessories.
Edge plates let you build walls around the perimeter.
Together, they turn a traditional tabletop grid into a three-dimensional building system.
Start with a flat battlefield. Add columns. Stack another level. Add walls. Connect a bridge. Raise another platform. Build a tower.
Your battlefield isn't limited to the table surface anymore.
