Octopuses are a good subject for this: curved surfaces, overlapping tentacles, and a few clearly separated regions. That lets you see how cyan, magenta, yellow, black, and white blend on both flat-ish areas and surfaces that catch light from different angles. This is meant as a test/display model, not a toy with moving parts. Print it as one piece or split the body and tentacles if you want to assign different mix ratios to different regions. What it is good for

  • Checking how well your translucent CMYKW set actually mixes

  • Comparing layer-interleaved mixing vs painted/solid regions

  • Seeing how layer height changes the blend

  • A small, photogenic print for showing off a new filament set

Suggested print settings These are starting points — adjust to your printer and filament.

  • Layer height: 0.08–0.12 mm for smoother optical blending. 0.16–0.20 mm works, but the mix looks more striped up close.

  • Nozzle: 0.4 mm is fine

  • Walls: 2–3

  • Infill: 10–15% is enough

  • Supports: only if your orientation needs them. Standing on the mantle with tentacles reaching down usually needs some; laying it on a flattened underside can reduce them.

  • Brim: useful if the contact patch is small

  • Print speed: slower outer walls help the surface look cleaner on translucent filament

Filament Designed around a translucent CMYKW set:

  • C — translucent cyan

  • M — translucent magenta

  • Y — translucent yellow

  • K — black (or translucent grey if that is what you have)

  • W — white

Opaque primaries will not mix as cleanly. The effect depends on light passing through thin layers. If you are using ColorMix / Full Spectrum / similar layer-interleave workflows, keep the printable ratios simple: 1:1, 3:1, 1:3, and 1:1:1. Those read more evenly than long repeating block. How I used it Use this section to describe your actual setup. Example:I assigned different mix recipes to the mantle, head, and tentacles so I could compare several blends on one print. Printed at 0.12 mm layer height with [your slicer] on [your printer].Files List what you actually uploaded. Example:

  • octopus.stl — single-body version

  • octopus.3mf — pre-painted / multi-material version with color regions

  • optional split parts if you included them
