This M4 Mac Mini Fan Hat sits atop your mini machine and helps to cool down the chassis. This helps to lower the overall temperature of the computer without interfering with the stock fan which is located on the bottom of the machine. While the absolute gains are modest, it helps a lot with managing thermals over time and prevent the chip from throttling, especially during tasks like video editing and encoding.
I made this doohickey when working for a company with over 100,000 YouTube subscribers who refused to buy the head of their media department (read: me) anything better than a base spec M4 Mac Mini as an editing machine to run the channel. Despite this comical hardware limitation, I was able to run Premiere with three monitors and minimal crashes because of my ingenious and revolutionary M4 Mac Mini Fan Hat.
Works with both the standard and pro variants of the M4 Mac Mini. I'm not sure about compatibility with the new M5/M6 Mac Minis, but I have no reason to believe it wouldn't work.
Recommended to print out of PETG, ABS, PC, PEEK, titanium, or another high temp material to prevent warping if the fan isn't on.
