Color Mixing Test CupcakeI designed this cupcake specifically to test color mixing (Bambu Studio Color Mixing / Prusa ColorMix or similar multi-filament blending). The goal was a small, attractive model that shows off mixed colors on the sprinkles while still looking like a real dessert. The chocolate base has a porous cake-like texture, the frosting is a classic swirl, and the rainbow sprinkles sit on top. It works both as a technical test piece and as a cute decoration.Key features
Designed with color mixing in mind
Distinct parts for easy color assignment (cake, frosting, sprinkles)
No supports needed on most printers (or very few)
Looks great at the original size or scaled
Printing recommendations
Layer height: 0.16–0.20 mm (0.12 mm for extra detail on the frosting)
Infill: 10–15%
Supports: None or minimal (check the frosting swirl)
Brim: Optional, depending on bed adhesion
Color mixing: Assign base colors to the cake and frosting, then use mixed/blended colors for the sprinkles. Translucent or high-chroma filaments usually mix better.
Filaments used in the photo
Cake: Dark brown / chocolate PLA
Frosting: White PLA
Sprinkles: Multiple bright colors (or mixed from a smaller set of base filaments)
Feel free to use whatever filaments you have — that’s the point of the test.
