A modular organizer system for desks, shelves and drawers. Its frame design borrows from steel construction: vertical posts, horizontal chords and diagonal bracing form a stiff, lightweight trusses.

Three A5 tray types and one A5 lid connect with two U-clip types – no screws, glue or tools required.

Build flat or stacked trays, organizers, boxes or upright files, and reconfigure them whenever your needs change.

To change a configuration, pull the clips off and rebuild.

Feel free to up- or downscale the elements.

Have fun!

Update (version 2): Tray I, tray II and cover IV are now available in two versions.

  • Version 1 keeps the uniform member thickness throughout – visually the most consistent design, but the frame members along the edge where two trays or covers meet proved too delicate.

  • Version 2 doubles the thickness of these connecting members, and U-clip 1 has been adapted accordingly.

I recommend version 2 – the final choice is, of course, yours.

Elements

  • Tray I (black): basic tray

  • Tray II (orange): tray with cutout for easy access

  • Tray III (green): box variant

  • Cover IV (blue): lid, fits trays I–III

  • U-clip 1 (yellow): joins two trays into an A4 tray

  • U-clip 2 (red): locks trays and covers together for upright configurations (upright file / magazine holder).

Assembly

Every tray has the same A5 format. Trays can be combined in three ways:

  • Side by side: combine two A5 trays to one A4 tray.

  • Stacked: stack A5 or A4 trays.

  • Upright: turn a closed stack upright two create a file or magazine holder.

There are two clip types: U-clip 1 and U-clip 2 (see image  "U-Clip Connectors: Types & Application"). Both clips snap onto the frame members from the side.

  • U-clip 1 is used wherever two trays meet side by side.

  • U-clip 2 connects cover IV to any of the three trays.
