Quartz accuracy frequency generator 1Hz-22.11Mhz uses the Atmega AVR (88,128,328) PB0 output to generate the MCU clock frequency, and timer output PB1 for divided frequencies. Four tactile switches select frequency ranges from 1Hz to 22Mhz and adjust the frequency to possible values determined by the timer setup.
The two crystals 8Mhz and 22.11Mhz are switch selectable, the same switch signals to the MCU which crystal is in use. SN74HC157 multiplexer selects PB0 or PB1 to the output. The output is SMA connector.
Warning : The fuse Clock output on PORTB0; [CKOUT=0] must be set. A2 switch position and the HC157 input connections to PB0 PB1 may or may not be correct on the drawing, and the range select switches are unmarked too. Please be creative and find out in practice which goes where. A reset switch is recommended too.
The power supply is USB however a noisy power supply can ruin the stability, so for best results use a Li-Ion battery equipped with an USB plug.
The generator was developed for testing the GPS disciplined frequency counter.https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7402116
Note : the generator can not produce just any frequency in the 1Hz-22Mhz range, please read https://eleccelerator.com/avr-timer-calculator/ and modify the code accordingly if a certain frequency must be generated.
