The FW12 RECON is a rugged, tactical-inspired standalone chassis designed to convert the Framework 12 Mainboard and its internal battery into a fully portable, ultra-compact micro-computer. Built with a Cyber-Sci-Fi Utility aesthetic, it features aggressive 45° panel lines, reinforced perimeter bezels, and recessed branding.
Whether used as a field cyberdeck, home server node, or portable workstation, the FW12 RECON balances raw functionality with high-end maker aesthetics.
Key Features: Every chamfer, recessed panel line, and internal cavity is engineered at 45° angles or less for clean printing.Dual-Module Architecture: Split into two distinct sections (Mainboard & Battery) for easier printing on standard beds ($200 \times 200\text{ mm}$+), simplified maintenance, and modular upgrades.Tactical Features & Modular Bezels: Includes an elevated protective shroud for the power button (SW1) and an outer protective bezel.Flexible Assembly Options: Accent bezels and protective trims can either be permanently glued (CA glue) for a quick build, or secured using M3 screws and heat-set inserts for full disassembly and custom color swapping. Press-Fit Mechanical Button: A custom-designed power button actuator that snaps directly into place over the internal SW1 switch—no glue or extra screws required.Optimized Thermal Performance: Full bottom intake mesh aligned directly with the Framework fan assembly and dedicated exhaust channels.Dual-Color Ready: Designed as separate STL bodies so you can easily achieve a high-contrast multi-color print on any standard single-extruder machine.
