I created basic shapes that can be used to create keychains, pendants, charms, ornaments, zipper pulls, jewelry, pins, purse clips, backpack hangers, guitar picks, challenge coins, and more.

Intended to be simple to load into your slicer, add text, and print. No AMS needed, but could be optional. In your slicer, you can add text, combine shapes, fill in holes, slice off the hanger loop, etc.

Instructions to add text:

Most modern slicers (Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, and Cura) have built-in text tools, allowing you to add text directly without modifying the model in 3D design software.

  1. Select the Keychain Model:

Import your keychain .STL or .3MF file into the slicer. Click on the model to select it.

  1. Open the Text Tool:

Bambu Studio / OrcaSlicer: Click the Text tool icon (T) on the top toolbar.

PrusaSlicer: Press T on your keyboard or right-click the model and select Add Part > Text.

Cura: Install the "Text In Cura" plugin from the Ultimaker Marketplace, or use a basic shape modifier.

  1. Type Your Text and Adjust Settings:

Type your name or message into the text box. Configure the basic layout:

Font: Bold, simple fonts (like Sans-Serif or Arial) print much cleaner than thin or script fonts.

Size: Adjust the text height to fit the printable area of your keychain.

Thickness/Depth: Set how far the text sticks out or indents (around 0.8 mm–1.2 mm is ideal for legibility).

  1. Choose Raised, Engraved, or Multi-Color:

Select how you want the text applied to the keychain:

Raised (Embossed): Set the operation to Part / Add. Hover over the flat top face of the keychain and click to place the text.

Engraved (Debossed): Set the operation to Cut / Subtractions. This carves the text into the surface.

Multi-Color / Flush: Set the operation to Modifier or set Embedded Depth to 0.4 mm. In the objects list, change the text's filament color to a contrasting color (requires an AMS/MMU or manual layer swap).

  1. Slice and Verify:

Click Slice Plate / Slice Now. Switch to the Preview tab and zoom in on the text. Toggle through the layer slider to ensure the text outlines are crisp and not bridging across tiny gaps.

Tips for Clean Small-Text Printing

Enable Arachne Perimeter Generator: In your slicer's Quality settings, switch Wall Generator from Classic to Arachne. Arachne automatically adjusts line widths on the fly to fill small character gaps without under-extruding.

Print Face-Down for Smooth Text: If making flush multi-color text, invert the keychain so the text prints directly against a textured PEI plate. The bottom layer will look factory-molded.

Use a 0.2 mm Nozzle for Fine Text: If your text is under 5" mm" tall, a standard 0.4" mm" nozzle may skip thin line segments. A 0.2" mm" nozzle allows the slicer to draw much sharper letter edges.
