KeyGuard MX — Precision Keyguard for Logitech MX Mechanical

What it is
KeyGuard MX is a rigid, non-destructive keyguard that sits directly over the Logitech MX Mechanical keyboard. Each key well has a precisely-sized cutout that lets a fingertip rest inside the frame before pressing down, blocking accidental presses on neighboring keys.

Who it helps
This design is aimed at people with essential tremor, Parkinson's, cerebral palsy, MS, or other conditions that affect fine motor control and finger placement. It's also useful for anyone typing one-handed, recovering from a hand injury, or who simply wants a more deliberate, error-resistant typing experience. Instead of relying on speed or precision aim, the user can rest a finger inside a cutout, brace against the frame, and press with confidence that the surrounding keys won't be triggered.

How it works
The keyguard is a flat plate matched hole-for-hole to the official MX Mechanical reference geometry. It sits just above the keycaps, held in place with small neodymium magnets (or double-sided foam tape as a tool-free alternative) along the underside edges. This keeps the guard fully removable and reversible — no adhesive residue, no drilling, no permanent change to the keyboard.

Assembly instructions

  1. Print the keyguard plate flat, no supports needed (see print settings below).

  2. Attach magnets: press 8× 3mm x 1mm neodymium disc magnets into the recessed pockets and glue in place with a drop of CA glue. (Buy magnets here: [link])

  3. If you prefer not to use magnets, apply small strips of double-sided foam tape to the frame instead.

  4. Align the keyguard over the keyboard so each cutout sits centered over its key, and lower it gently into place — the magnets/tape will hold it against the keyboard's top frame.

  5. To remove, lift from the front edge; no tools required.
