This is a simple siphon method to clean resin from IPA using a sintered bronze filter.
I have been able to filter and reuse IPA 3 - 4 times before it becomes too contaminated to be useful.
I used 24" of 3/8 copper tube and a sintered bronze fuel filter from Amazon ( https://a.co/d/0eSHv0OB)
The drop tube is approximately 10" long and sits just above the bottom of the can to allow heavier solids to settle and not be drawn into the filter. I soldered it to the can cap to keep it from moving. The siphon tube is 14", with an additional 8" of flex line.
Total cost was about $25.00 USD. Total time to filter a gallon of IPA is about 15 minutes.
This setup could be refined by adding a tire valve stem to apply pressure. Keep in mind that pressure must remain VERY LOW. I used about 4 PSI to get the flow started. Even this low caused the can to "balloon".
Prior to filtering I set the IPA out in the sun in a clear plastic container to solidify as much of the suspended resin as possible. Even after filtering I'm only able to reuse the IPA 2 or 3 times before it just simply cant be filtered effectively.
