PhoneDock, a simple phone charging dock:
Overview:
This is basically just a simple phone stand with charging cable routing, and storage built in. I made sur to angle the main support so the phone can sit upright while still being easy to look at. Theres also this custom pattern I made in the back cause why not? It seems I had too much time on my hands

the whole thing is one connected piece so theres no assembly to bedone here.
Why I built it:
This was my second ever CAD project so I wanted to continue with something simple an learn things as I go, and im pretty proud of myself for what Ive been able to acheive the past few days.
I still dont have a 3d printer, so i havent been able to actually test out the printing, so ive tried to keep the design simple and hopefully printable, but actual print feedback would definetly help.
Features:
Ofc, the main part of the project is the angld phone support, and Ive chosen a 70 degree angle, ,which is a 20 degree recline which hopefully should be enough to allow for comfortable charging and viewing.

Charging cable opening and routing:
Pretty self explanatory.

The idea is that the cable can come up through the opening while the phone is sitting normally on the stand.
Extra storage space in the back:
Tbh i just used this to save on filament, but I just realized that yo could put stuff in here to weight it down, thereby making it more stable, though I shoulf probably add rubber feet in the next iterations.
How to print:
The main model is provided in both step and stl formats, as one printable piece.
Starter Settings:
These are just the settings i'd start with. I havent tested them myself yet since i dont have a printer.
- layer height: 0.2 mm
- walls/perimeters: 3
- infill: around 15-20%
- material: PLA
- supports: hopefully none, but check your slicer first.
Since i havent actually printed this yet, the exact settings will probably depend on the printer and filament being used.
Future Improvements
There are a few things i'd like to try in future versions.
Some ideas are:
- a dedicated cable channel on the bottom
- support for thicker phone cases
- different viewing angles
- a more customizable phone slot
- a wider base for extra stability
- some kind of decorative pattern
- changes based on actual print testing
The main thing i'd like to try next is making a version that works with a wider range of phone cases and charging cables. I could also try making a few different versions with different angles and sizes.
Assembly:
There is no assembly required, as its just one piece.
