A spoolholder cap that remembers things for you. Two rings turn in the cap: the outer one points at the material on the spool (PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, PA, PC, HIPS) and the inner one at the month you opened it, so you know when it is time to dry it. Printed in one piece, rings already inside.
How it works
Turn a ring with your fingernail (notches on each ring) until its arrow points at the right label. The engraved arrows are 1 mm deep so you can read them at a glance.
The rings are held by a 45° chamfer: they are wider at the back than at the front, so they cannot fall out. The face of Prusa's original cap closes them from behind.
0.35 mm clearance everywhere; the rings print on the bed next to the fixed parts, no supports and no bridges over them wider than 8 mm.
How it was checked
Every part is a solid of revolution, so the clearances were checked exactly on the 2D profiles: grown by 0.30 mm, no ring touches its neighbours; a control test with 0.40 mm does touch, so the test is real.
The exported STL has three separate bodies (cap + two rings): nothing is fused.
Sliced in Bambu Studio: 26 min, 10 g of PLA (A1 mini, 0.2 mm).
Fit
Built on Prusa's own plain cap (CapPlain from Prusa Spoolholders, Original Prusa XL and CORE One+), so the teeth and snap fit are unchanged. The dial adds 3.4 mm to the front of the cap.
For contrast, add a colour change at 0.6 mm (the labels and arrows are engraved 0.6-1.0 mm into the face, which prints on the bed): the letters come out in the second colour. OpenSCAD source included: change the material list or the label size.
