Getting the stem to align verticaly on the dropzone bases can be quite fiddly so to avoid wonky aircraft I created a jig that holds the parts in postion while the glue dries. As well as ensuring alignment it also makes assembling the bases much quicker.
Using the jig
You will need the appropriate size jig for the models base, smaller aircraft use 30mm square bases, larger aircraft need 40mm bases. you also need the base, flight stem appropriate glue, some masking tape is also usefull to hold the stem in position if your glue takes time to set.
Insert the square base into the slot with the bottom surface facing the side of the jig
Apply glue to the end of the accrylic rod and place on the v grove avoiding getting glue on the jig
Slide the rod into the base, you may need to lift the base very slighly to get the rod to slide in
Position the rod so it doesnt protrude from the bottom of the base and either hold or tape in position
Apply slight pressure to the bottom of the base to ensure it is flush with the slot
Wait for the glue to cure and remove the base from the jig
Repeat until you run out of bases to glue
Customising the jig
The jig is desined for the bases used in dropzone commander, however the fusion file allows for customisation if required for different size bases and accrylic rods, the options are in the parameters tab (found under the modify menu)
