Maybe you know of 3D printed violins. Maybe you've even seen 3D printable bridges with pickups in them (https://github.com/penk/Kakuhomaru-bridge). This is my effort to make a 3D printed electric violin pickup which, after 3D printing, can be assembled entirely by hand - no PCBs required.
Design notes
The bridge profile is shaped to what feels comfortable for me to play, and the piezo element heights are tuned to make the string volumes sound balanced to me using Thomastik Dominant strings. I may release more design files here in the future to allow for more customization.
Sourcing parts
This pickup requires PZT piezo elements of dimensions 12 mm x 5 mm x 0.5 mm. I found mine from a supplier on Alibaba for the prototypes, but am still working out the sourcing to make these easier to build.
Assembly notes
Bridge v1 has flat feet which must be trimmed and shaped to your particular violin. There is a limit to how much height you can remove and still have room for wire connections. Bridge v1.3 is shortened to fit a Modular Fiddle with minimal trimming.
