Another take on the THRUSTMASTER® TH8S shifter knob - this time less conventional but with all the pros of my first version, the ERGO Knob.

Please don’t scale the parts: The thread and the fits are sized for the THRUSTMASTER® adapter.

Have fun!

Elements

  • Logo: Sits recessed in the cap, its stem locking the crystal to the shell.

  • Cap: Upper half of the ball, slides onto two keys on the shell. Carries most of the grip holes.

  • Shell: Main body with ventilation slots, the adapter thread and the two keys for the cap.

  • Collar: Lock nut with three grooves that fixes the knob’s direction.

You also need the official THRUSTMASTER® knob adapter.

Features

  • Ventilated: Both halves of the ball are hollow. A central pillar and twelve inner ribs keep the shell stiff.

  • Multicolor / multimaterial: The knob is made of separate parts, so any single-material printer can produce a multicolor and/or multimaterial result.

  • Easy assembly: The cap slides onto the shell, and the logo presses in to hold it there. No screws, no glue.

  • Orientation lock: The collar keeps the knob from rotating on the adapter.

  • No supports anywhere: every part prints on its own.

Assembly

The exploded view shows the four parts from top to bottom: logo, cap, shell and collar.

Assembling the knob

  1. Set the cap on the flat top face of the shell, about 1 cm beside its final position.

  2. Slide the cap forward until the two halves of the ball line up.

  3. Push the logo’s stem firmly and evenly through the cap into the shell.

Mounting it on the shifter

  1. Fit the adapter to the shifter as described in the THRUSTMASTER® instructions.

  2. Screw the collar onto the adapter, wide opening facing down.

  3. Screw the knob onto the adapter.

  4. Turn and tighten the collar by hand. The knob can no longer turn.
