A pull-string vampire bat for a door, a window, a bedroom or a Halloween tree. Pull the little pumpkin and the bat flaps its 22 cm wings; let go and they drop back. Big white eyes, white fangs and a fuzzy belly.

HOW IT WORKS

• Each wing turns on a snap pin at the shoulder, behind the body.

• Each wing's round hub has a thread hole up and in from its pin. One thread joins the two hubs and the pull thread hangs from its middle: pulling it rolls both hubs, so the wings sweep up together.

• The joining thread sets how far the wings droop at rest.

PRINTING

• One plate, no supports: body, two wings, three snap pins (one spare) and the pull pumpkin.

• The 3MF is set up for black, white and orange. In one colour: print the body in black and swap to white at 5.0 mm for the eyes and fangs.

• Bambu Studio: 1 h 08 and 27 g.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Push a pin through each shoulder from the front, then through a wing behind the body (vein side facing forward) until it clicks.

  2. 2. Tie a strong thread or fishing line through both hub holes so it's just tight when the wings droop a little.

  3. 3. Tie the pull thread to the middle of that thread, run it down and tie the pumpkin on the end.

  4. 4. Hang the bat by the hole between its ears.

  5. CUSTOMIZE (OpenSCAD)

  6. The clearance on the pivot holes.
