The Krypt Keeper's Kandy Drawer is a little stone crypt that doubles as a candy drawer. It has a carved stone look, a skull and two bats on the front, and the words “Wake the Dead” engraved on the roof. The drawer holds your candy in two compartments, and on the roof sit three small graveyard figures: a skeleton hand, a ghost and a skull. The idea is that opening the candy drawer is what wakes them up.
When you pull the drawer out, the figures rise one after another. First the hand, then the ghost, then the skull each lift up off the roof, so the dead seem to wake as you reach for your treat. Push the drawer back in and they sink down again. There are no gears, springs or motors. Each figure stands on a little rod that rests on a ramp on top of the drawer. The ramps are placed at different spots, so each rod gets pushed up at a different moment, and gravity brings them back down when the drawer closes.
