Update Oct 30 2026

Created Version #2 of the license plate frame with these additions:

  • Added Anti-Rotation Pins to the side pillar connection points

  • Added Captive Plate Clips to the bottom section

  • Added separate Left & Right Side Pillars (due to a slightly different geometry)

I have a new 2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E and wanted a new unique license plate frame to replace the one put on by the dealership. "Electron Mobility" is a term from solid-state physics with an obvious double meaning for an EV.

Needed To Build

  • Print bed at least 11" / 280 mm square

    • TOP and BOTTOM sections are 320 mm wide

  • Heat-safe filaments such as PETG or ASA

    • I used PETG to avoid any possibility of warpage

  •  Four M2*10 screws

    • Used to attach the side pillars to the top and bottom

  • Your own added text (if wanted) added in Tinkercad or within your slicer

  • PAUSE added before the text (alone) is printed on the BOTTOM section

How To Print

  • Print the three models

    • TOP section (printed diagonally to fit the print bed)

    • BOTTOM section (printed diagonally to fit the print bed)

    • 2X Side Pillars (suggest also printing diagonally to match top layer patterns)

  • All models require supports

    • Suggest snug tree supports for easy removal

  • Insert a PAUSE in your slicer for the BOTTOM section once the slicer begins printing only the added text

    • Change the filament to your preferred text color then resume printing

How To Assemble

  • Attach the side pillars to the TOP and BOTTOM sections with M2*10 screws through the shallow-angled screw accesses

My frame was printed using PETG at 0.16 mm, with 100% infill, using "snug" tree supports, on QIDI Plus4 printers.
