A simple to print jig for making dovetails on a router table. Included built in tracks for using tracksaw rail clamps to hold the material to the jig.
Print instructions:
I recommend to print the parts solid or with at least 12 perimeters so it can hold up to clamps and routing.
Hardware needed:
12 degree dovetail bit Ø12,7mm diameter (like the 12 degree one in this set (a bit without a bearing needs a guide bushing of 12,7mm https://www.proshop.dk/Vaerktoej/Bosch-Bitsaet-til-fraesejern-30-dele-blandet-skaft-paa-14/2837858)
Flush trim bit 12,7mm diameter (like these ones https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0F3J4NDPY?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title)
3 flat head wood screws + washers
3 m4 furniture screws 30-40mm (like these ones https://beslagsgrossisten.dk/shop/274-skruer/971-samleskrue-2-dele-m4-30-40mm---forniklet/?_gl=1*huttac*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwo5bXBhAEEiwAkgpgXFbV8XybsXghhcVVk_1JeH2F71iGVw7ZSWudQyAVDPFdtaknNBdvQBoCVKMQAvD_BwE&gbraid=0AAAAABwavS-mgHTEeka8oxkGA1HarVIRj)
Sacrificial fence:
The jig uses 30mm wide by 9mm thick sacrificial fence material, you need to cut that yourself and mount to the jig fence. This is replaceable when worn. You need to make sure the furniture screws are countersunk below the surface of the sacrificial fences.
Assembly:
Screw the template to the fence, and make sure that the pointy side of the template overlaps the fence clamp surface by ~7mm, this is when the screw holes are centered in the slots.
Usage:
1. Use the dovetail bit on the straight template side, the height of the bit should match the material thickness + the thickness of the router template.
Put the material in the jig and center it. Then route the tails.
2. Use the flush trim bit on the angled template side. The height of the bit should match the material thickness + the thickness of the router template.
Put the material centered over one of the angled router "hole" sections, then route the pins. This is needed so the two pieces of material lines up when assembled.
3. Test fit the pieces, you can adjust the router template in/out on the angled side to make the fit looser/tighter.
