Created a simple tool to help realign the piston on a Flair 58 manual lever espresso machine.

I tested it on my Flair58 while fully heated and the tool seems to hold up fine printed with PETG, but use at your own discretion.  Also works while the machine was unheated.

There are two variants of this tool.

  • Double Handled - this version can better handle the torque required to turn the piston and allows you to use two hands but won't work if your piston is aligned with the machine body.  This is the version I regularly use as it's easier to use and I don't allow the piston to rotate enough where it's aligned to the body.
  • Single Handled - this version will work with any piston orientation

Note: if you do not regularly lubricate your o-rings, the forces required to rotate may be too high for this tool.

Printing Recommendations

  • PETG
  • 4 perimeters
  • 40%+ infill

I've printed this at 0.2mm layer height on both a 0.6mm (arachne) and 0.4mm nozzles

Updated Single Handle Design

Based on feedback, I've updated the design slightly to better accommodate the torque forces while using the tool.  (newer version on left)
