Commercial M3 t-nuts for 4040 aluminium profile are quite hard to find. This quick print solves the problem.
Print them standing up and with supports (to improve the quality of the nut cutout). It's a good idea to print a small batch in one go as the part is small and you can easily hit minimum layer time issues. The nut cutout is a fairly tight fit - you don't want the nut falling out while you are putting the part into the t-slot - so you will probably need to pull it into place with a screw from the top.
