I got tired of the better half's sanitized happy-go-lucky home decor that said things like “live laugh love” and mugs that had just one word like “coffee.” printed on them in a fancy font, so I made a coaster that was more to my liking. :)
- No supports
- Printed with COEX Black PLA for the graphics and Gizmodorks Wood PLA for the rest of the coaster
- 0.3mm layer height
- 0.4mm nozzle
Instructions
- Download both the bougie_coaster_inlay.stl and bougie_coaster_outer.stl files
- Place the models in your slicer with the top side down (so the words touch the plate)
- Align the models so the graphics of bougie_coaster_inlay.stl fits within the recessed design of the bougie_coaster_outer.stl file
- Enable a purge tower in your slicer and preview the GCODE to ensure a filament/tool swap is present
- Export the GCODE
- Print the model
- If using a single extruder printer
- Open the exported GCODE file with your favorite text editor
- Modify the tool change code to pause the print using the M0 command
- Start the print
- When your printer pauses, swap your filament
- Resume the print
- If using a multi material printer
- Print the model per your slicer's settings
- If using a single extruder printer
- If printing the outer coaster in wood PLA, brush on a stain in your favorite color
