I had TPU in mind when designing this, a thin flexible layer between a coffee pot or beer mug and the desk's surface, just to shield off direct contact.
A height of 1 mm works fine with TPU, change the Z-resolution in the slicer if you feel you need it thicker, 2 mm may work better with PLA.
