V1:

This was made with the band not touching your forehead so that you could add your own padding there. The head strap should be printed vertically, so that the strap not to break easily. (had to reinforce mine, which printed horizontally).

  • The front is based on the Oculus Quest Front Head Strap Attachment (Stock & DAS) by Sekazi in Thingiverse.
  • The adjustable back in the V1 picture is Oculus Quest 2 MegaPro Headband V4 by Anarasha.         ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4671658)
Things to improve:

-The side clips also have difficult to remove supports for this version if printed horizontally.

-The side clip is pretty difficult to remove once inserted.

-Halo band strap loop might be fragile.

-Front clip only clamps when tension is there; if the sides are adjusted, it would unclip.

-Overhaul front clip.

-An adjustable back part that doesn't slide up the head (Add weights or power bank).

V2:

Requires:
  • Small buckle

You can use the BackStrapAttachment instead if you want to use other back attachments like the adjustable back (Oculus Quest 2 MegaPro Headband V4) like in the V1 picture.

Made my own front support but it looks quite similar to “Oculus Quest Front Head Strap Attachment (Stock & DAS) by Sekazi”. Halo band requires some padding to be used, else the weight of the quest is on your face.  The back strap is just attached with a buckle. Added an extra support on the back of the head to distribute weight better.

Things to improve:
  • The front support works better when using the included facial interface spacer. (clips on the bottom of the quest 2)
  • Front support might not fit everyone, places weight on the upper part of the face if it doesn't fit. (Remove if not comfortable)
  • Not very comfortable yet; need to adjust weight distribution.
  • Way to hold the back strap in position.
  • Buckle at the back might just pinch the back of the head.
  • Might be better to have the back in one piece only.
  • Overall, still a bit flimsy.

V2.1:

Attempt at making an adjustable back strap for the V2. The straps must be placed as shown in Step 2 to make turning the knob right to tighten and left to loosen. The files are made in a way that no supports are needed when printing.

Adding cushioning for the front and back are recommended.

*Changed name to Head Strap instead of Halo Strap, which was inaccurate

*CAUTION: After repeated use the ‘BackStrap’ might get loose from the ‘HeadBand’ and pop out if enough force is applied. Would be better to loosely securing it by ziptie to the headband. (Haven't experienced it so far, but just in case.)

Requires:
  • 2 M3*14 screws
  • 2 M3*8 screws
  • 4 M3 Nuts
  • Velcro/Zipties/2 M3*12 Screws & 2  M3 Nuts to attach the 'Rack' to the ‘Back Strap L&R’
  • Optional:
    • 2 zip ties to zip tie the 'Back Strap L&R' to the ‘HeadBand’ if it detaches frequently (Ensure that you can still rotate the whole back part)
Things to improve:
  • Might be better to make the back immovable/ Move the pivot part further back the model
  • The back loosens up sometimes when adjusting

Instructions for the adjustable back:

Step 1:

  • Attach the ‘Bottom’ to the ‘BackRest’ using the 2 M3*14 screws and the 2 M3 nuts
  • All the V2 & V2.1 Backrests are interchangeable and require the same screw length

Step 2:

Step 3: Attach the ‘Gear’ to the ‘Strap Gear’ and ensure that they all fit properly

Step 4: Attach the ‘Cover' to the setup using the 2 M3*8 screws and nuts

Step 5: Attach the ‘Strap Gear’ to the ‘Backstrap L&R’ with screws/zipties/velcro, whichever you prefer to use

Step 6: Attach to the ‘HeadBand’
