My couch has some cupholders which is nice except if I am using a coffee mug. The handle prevents the cup from fitting neatly and securely. So I use this insert to provide a secure spot for my coffee cups to fit. I designed this to fit my largest cups, your cup collection may differ.
Also works well for my kid's small cups that can be hard to get out of the cupholders because they're shorter than the depth of the holder.
This model does require supports underneath, if I feel like it I will redesign to print in 2 pieces and avoid supports (or you can split the model, print it without and glue together).
I used PETG for my models but think PLA would probably be fine with the heat from a fresh cup of coffee/tea.
Update: v4 file includes a split model to remove the need for supports.
