This is a DC-DC Adjustable Step-down Buck Converter LM2596 , it's a pretty cool and cheap way to adjust voltage in the down direction. I use this to drive a 12V always on fan from a BTT SK3 . You can hook it up directly to a 24V power supply and adjust it down to 12V.
I needed a clean way to mount this in this modular case so I designed a simple one. It uses M3 inserts (melt them in) to provide a reusable way to unmount from the case and simple screws to mount the little board on it.
It's raised a bit so you can mount it and not be bothered by some soldering pins on the bottom.
Printed it with 6 perimeters in PETG to have enough material on the sides of the threaded inserts.
The design is made with onshape.com , it's free and open and can be modded. You can find it here , you can fork it and use the dimension constraints to quickly adapt. I tried to use mirrored sides where I easily could so you can quickly prototype.
The G-code used here is sliced with the brand new 2.5.0 prusaslicer, which has been reset to defaults except for layer heigth and postprocessing with Arc-Welder.
The dark black smear on the photo is me finally discovering what the problem was with my print problem, it's a blob that fell onto the print which came from about the heatblock. This print made me realize I have a leak at the heatbreak.
The inserts are made to be screwed from the bottom of the case upwards.
