After weeks of random jamming and proding my printer, I couldn't find anything wrong.
Then one day I noticed that the green plug was loose, almost completely unplugged.
I did some testing and found that if you pull straight on the clip it was fine, but back and forth movements would wiggle it loose. So while it was printing it would essentially unplug itself and cause it to randomly stop heating the extruder…
This model is meant to keep the cable upright and minimize the likelihood of wiggling loose.
