This is an other design of mine (for an other friend). As most of my works this is solely created in Blender 3D

While mainly designed with FDM-technology in mind, this sculpt is interesting in many different cases and in my opinion a great print for a light based printing system.

On the one hand, the final details on the sculpt are much more advanced than some of my older models and on the other hand, this model combines classic sculpting (and mesh- based modelling to prepare this) with Blenders liquid simulation capabilities, creating a one of a kind sculpt -> rerunning/ tweaking the simulation model will change the outcome

The pictures represent my way of creating this model:

  1. I created a basic mesh using mesh-tools
  2. I subdivided the mesh to make it "smooth"
  3. I created the liquid-simulation on this smooth body (as the vertex count for the final sculpt is much higher, using the lower-resolution "smooth"- model is reasonable to save on processing time)
  4. I did the actually sculpting

To my surprise, the model was printed on thingiverse without support!

  • pic #3 was supposed to be a gif, but does not work for me -> added single images to show the steps of the liquid-simulation

Print instructions

Printed on an Ultimaker original with different support types (including tree-support, standard support, support-roffing)

Interestingly the model has also been printed with no support at all
