A simple rail to really block out the sun with regular blackout curtains.

The rail is 175 mm long, making it printable on a wide range of printers.

For my particular window I needed 1400 mm tall rails, which translates to 8 parts per rail for a total of 16 per window.

It is possible to plate, I printed mine successfully with two per plate, tried four at first but the large surface area and thin walls cooled the parts too much leading to layer separation.

Print Settings

Printer Brand: Anet

Printer: A8

Rafts: No

Supports: No

Resolution: Anything really, I printed mine at .35 mm

Infill: Doesn't really matter, but at least three perimeters to really block out the sun

Filament

I now highly recommend PETG, as my first batch of PLA prints began to delaminate after several years in direct sunlight (go figure)

Just snap the required number of rails together.

Fasten them to the window frame(?) with e.g. double sided tape.

Enjoy!
