Background

Ceramic deburring tools work great for plastics. The edges of the ceramic blade don‘t dig in to plastic like typical metal deburring tools, so it's easy to dress a print to remove strings, zits, unwanted blips, & any other material removal without taking off too much or cutting open a finger. If you've been there with a razor blade or a metal deburring tool to clean up your prints, then this may be an option for you.

I got one of these SLICE tools years ago and several sets of spare blades too. The blades don't really wear out as they are only used for 3D prints. I've been wanting more holders for the blades to keep in the garage and by my printer. So I designed up something that prints quick and was retractable. The 10483 blade I have does not have a sharpened edge and comes to a relatively blunt point, but I still wanted to cover it up when not in use.

Design

My holder has a slide & locking mechanism instead of a cap like the OEM holder. The blade is secured in the inner part, which has a compliant thumb lock. The inner part slides into the outer and locks in an extended or retracted position. Both are printed without support in PETG.
