I really love the entire Gridfinity system by ZackFreedman and I've been dying to try these organizers with the built in windows. When I finally did, the OG design didn't work for me. I didn't want to use double stick tape. The glass mounting didn't really seem all that secure to me. I checked remixes and found a few that tried making some changes, but I still wasn't in love. So to FUSION 360 we go.
I sliced the mounting frame for the glass just under the top. Most of the mounting frame is now integrated with the main body. As for the top I added sliding tabs to enable the top to be semi-securely held in place while some super glue dries.
Now the steps are:
- Slide the glass into the main body (Being careful. It is glass after all.)
- Apply some superglue to the area just above the glass on the left and right.
- Slide the top on.
- Wait for glue to dry.
I know this won't be everyone's thing but honestly the top sliding on feels a lot more secure to me, even without glue.
