Update: Nov 2026: I added a 2.7mm thick clip for single arm use;  and then two 1.3mm clips for use on both arms. (some like it symmetrical). Use enough walls/perimeters so they are solid. Recommend using PETG for longevity.

Note: Each robot could have a slightly different gap between the 2 arms as it wears in, or depending on the batch of parts that are used to produce that particular robot. I use clips of 2mm, but some are using up to 3.5mm thickness to wedge the arms. If you need a custom size, just leave a comment.

I created two different ways to keep the arms up in a Cafelat Robot manual espresso machine. The first uses two clips each with rare earth magnets (10mm x 2.7mm round) and the second uses a simple clip. The simple clip might work better, but over-engineered solutions are also attractive :). Both printed at 0.2 layer, 4 walls/perimeters. Details are in video for installation and printing. You can use PLA or PETG.

For the minimalist, the simple clip can be printed for pennies in less than 30 minutes. Try the 1.5mm clip. If you need something thicker, the 2mm should be fine. Let me know if there are other thicknesses needed.
