A friend of mine has a leaking oil seal on his 4-wheeler. I designed this split labyrinth seal that can be installed in place without having to remove the axle to access the oil seal for replacement. The labyrinth seal features a somewhat tortuous path between the rotor and the stator that is packed with grease to keep any oil from continually leaking past the oil seal (or at least it slows the rate of oil being lost). The inner seal shall be an interference fit on the axle shaft such that it rotates with the axle. The outer seal shall be an interference fit in the housing that holds the oil seal such that it is stationary. The inner cavity should be packed with wheel bearing grease. The split design allows for installation without having to remove the axle. Make sure to install grease fitting if needed for servicing or modify the model to remove the grease fittings and just pack it with grease before you install. You're most likely going to need to use a higher temp material like ABS.
I have provided the “.step” files for you to modify as needed to suit your machine fitment.
