Customizable comb for agarose gels. The included STL is a BA-14 1.5mm thickness. However if you have the measurements for any comb, download the Fusion 360 file.
Once in Fusion 360 you can customize the parameters to fit any desired configuration. I run a teaching lab and was shocked that combs cost ~$80 each so I designed this to print for a few cents.
I have tested it with PLA and they work remarkably well if the agarose is poured at ~50°C. If you wanted to be extra sure they can stand the heat you could try printing in PETG.
Variables to Specify in Fusion360:
- NumTeeth: Number of wells
- ToothGroupLength: length from the left of the first tooth to the right of the last tooth
- ToothThickness: The thickness of the tooth (i.e. 1.0 or 1.5mm)
- BaseLength: length of the entire comb including the slots at the end which hang on the casting tray
- GapWidth: The gap between the wells. 1.831mm seems to be the standard, I would leave this value alone.
