A card holder inspired by Agustin Arroyo's Maker Wallet. I aim to fix the issues and add my own tweaks to it.

This is a project aimed to improve the experience and the usability of the Maker Wallet by Agustin “Flowalistik” Arroyo! The issues I am trying to fix are:
- Front cover bending inwards upon applying pressure to slide the front cover
- Rail detached upon full travel
- Card ejection too short
- Front cover being pushed by the fingers holding from the back, causing its rail to misalign
with the constraint being:
- Same amount of components with the same level of reproducibility
- Unchanged core mechanism
I also added my own design requirements:
- Create a more aesthetically appealing Maker Wallet
- Specifically designed for one-handed operation
- Removal of money compartment (I rarely bring paper money!)
and this is what I came up with! I hope you all enjoy the wallet as much as I do. This is by no means a perfect design, so feel free to make it and comment if there are some parts that do not fit right, etc. Remixes are also very welcomed, I will attach my .STEP file in here too.
Making Tips
This is a copy and paste from the original “Maker Wallet” Printables page. I found this works well.
- Use a 0.4mm nozzle
- Print settings: 3 perimeters and 0.2mm layer height
- Loose lock mechanism? Play with the slicer’s tolerances settings to fix it
- Adhesives are not required, but you can add some glue where the lid and lever connect for increased rigidity
additional instructions / making tips :
- Support is now needed for the front cover (due to having a lock from the rear) but very minimal. Removal should not be a problem!
- PLEASE WAIT UNTIL THE PARTS ARE COOLED DOWN AFTER PRINTING! some of the parts here interacts with other parts and also are quite thin, and if you try to detach it before it completely cools down it will warp or bend the parts. This will cause bad mechanism and aesthetic, and you wouldn't want that!
Once again, thank you Agustin “Flowalistik” Arroyo for the inspiration, and also a huge thanks to Mark Richardson and the whole RMIT MDIT team for giving me the opportunity to work on this project as part of the assignment for “Creating Open Designs for Industry 4.0” Class. Happy Printing!
