The EAP235-W WIFI access point made by TP-Link is a device, which is intended to be mounted onto a in-wall junction box. I need a surface mounted version, so I looked around for a solution.
The boxes I found where all semi-beautiful for a living room and missed some specifications, that are important for me. So I made one of my own and used the ugly print for the cellar access point.
The design tool was FreeCAD v0.20.
I exported two versions out of this design, one without any cable access (perhaps you need to put a hole in it yourself, your slicer could do that for you), and one version with a keystone slot.
The version with a Keystone slot is in use at my place and the photos show this in severeal assembly stages.
The mounting plate is fixed with two screws M3, a brass thread insert with a outer diameter of 5mm needs to be inserted for this.
Any Keystone module for RJ45 Cat5e or up should fit, I worked a lot on the slot to be compatible with the most variants I could find on the net and in my hardware collection.
The cable length is approx. 25 ~ 30cm and the network plug is a standard or short RJ45 plug without sleeve.
