I build a lot of gadget Geocaches and I love using ammo cans for their ability to stand up to the elements. With that said, mounting things inside of them can be difficult at best with smooth walls and no anchor points.
This collection of models will allow you to populate the interior of a .30 caliber ammo can as you see fit for a geocaching hide or even a starting point for custom storage.
Provided are models that can be mixed or matched to create vertical supports, a base and a lid for the interior of the can. The models are provided either unadorned or with pilot holes for screws or slots to press-fit 8x3mm magnets allowing solid but moveable closure points for the lid.
The pilot holes on the base plate allow for multiple compartments to be created using the vertical supports or a way for an adhesive to bite into the model and hold it firm to the bottom of the can.
As an example of how the parts interact I've included photos of examples parts. Shown are the modular vertical support with imbedded magnets (red) and a half each of the base (blue) and lid (yellow) modular plates. The slot and peg system used allows any plate half to be attached to any other as desired. The slot holes are designed slightly larger than the pegs to allow for a better fit and for adhesives to be added as needed.
